A New Milestone in a Historic Cityscape: Topping-out for NO6 office building
On October 13, the topping-out ceremony was held for NO6, the new office building at Berlin’s Nollendorfplatz next to the historic Metropol of 1906. With the shell structure complete, work now turns to the building envelope and interior fit-out.
The large concave windows of the north facade, each 5.40 meters wide and 3 meters high, are set to be delivered in the coming weeks. They echo the curvature of the historic Metropol façade, reinterpreting it in a contemporary way in combination with natural stone and window frames made of recycled copper, while opening the building towards the square.
The T-shaped building extends over six floors and closes a gap in the urban fabric of Nollendorfplatz, where much of the historic architecture was destroyed during the Second World War. Completion is due in 2027.
