For a more sustainable architecture: CarbonBudget launched at our Berlin Open House event
On September 24, we opened the doors of our Berlin office and took our guests on a journey through all phases of architectural design. We also launched CarbonBudget, an open-access digital tool for greater sustainability in architecture and the construction sector.
The construction sector accounts for around a third of global CO₂ emissions. As architects, we therefore have a significant responsibility, since our design decisions determine the carbon footprint of buildings. The 1.5 °C target of the Paris Agreement provides a point of reference for the necessary transition.
This is where CarbonBudget comes in: Developed by our sustainability team, the tool translates the global climate target into an individual carbon budget for building projects in Europe. This makes it possible to assess a project’s climate impact at an early stage and make informed decisions on the path to sustainable construction.
CarbonBudget is freely accessible via its own website. With it, we aim to contribute to transparent and responsible carbon management in architecture and across the construction sector.
Thank you to everyone who visited us!
