DFG Research Centre

Founded in 2006, the Centre for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) undertakes research as the DFG Research Centre and Cluster of Excellence at the Technical University of Dresden into the self-healing potential of the human body, with the aim of developing new regenerative therapies for previously incurable diseases. The centre concentrates its research on the fields of hematology and immunology, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, replacement bones and cartilages as well as cardiovascular diseases. The new building connects in a U-shape to the BioInnovation Centre block.

In the two wings of the new four-story building are laboratories, offices, as well as conference and seminar rooms. The main entrance on Fetscherstraße leads directly to the main communication space, a place for meeting to foster knowledge transfer between research teams. In addition to seminar rooms, auditorium, cafeteria and exhibition space, the main circulation functions are found here. Footbridges connect the two wings and offer a diversity of visual relationships and opportunities to communicate. The auditorium and the bistro on the ground floor and the two-story bridge structure with seminar rooms are expressed as independent volumes.
