Future learning landscapes: Westlake University among three HENN-designed campuses completed in China

With the conclusion of the final construction phase, the campus of Westlake University is now complete. The university in Hangzhou, China, had already opened its doors in 2023 to students and staff from around the world. Two other university projects designed by us, the Dongguan campus of City University of Hong Kong and the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute, have also since opened.

All of our university buildings are conceived as active learning landscapes that, in addition to imparting academic knowledge, are specifically designed to foster future skills. Critical thinking, creativity and curiosity, as well as an enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge, all help prepare students for lifelong learning. These are the abilities that help people in a digitalized and highly interconnected world to evaluate and interpret information, solve complex problems, and thus make a meaningful contribution to society.
