Exemplary architecture: TauberPhilharmonie honored
The TauberPhilharmonie in Weikersheim has been honored with the “Beispielhaftes Bauen” (Exemplary Building) in the Main-Tauber district award of the Chamber of Architects Baden-Württemberg.
Under the patronage of District Administrator Christoph Schauder, a seven-member jury chaired by architect Manfred Sautter assessed 37 submissions and selected 17 projects. Its criteria ranged from scale and proportion to interior spatial quality, appropriate use of materials, constructive honesty, and integration into the urban and natural context.
Completed in 2019, the TauberPhilharmonie stands on the banks of the Tauber River, overlooking Weikersheim’s historic center. Like the wooden body of a musical instrument, its timber shell gives the concert hall a distinctive presence.
As the award honors clients and architects alike, we share this recognition with our client, the Town of Weikersheim. The award ceremony will take place on March 4, 2027.
Following the award ceremony, all winning projects will be comprehensively documented in the Chamber of Architects’ “Exemplary Building” database.
