Why don't female architects get the recognition their work deserves? "Women in Architecture" is a manifesto for the great achievements of women in architecture. Originating from the lecture series 'Architecture Today' at the University of Tübingen, curated by art historian Dr. Ursula Schwitalla BDA ao, female architects have long proven their contribution to global building culture in recent decades. 36 internationally active female architects have their say in this publication with their own selected project in text and magnificent images. This panorama is supplemented with a historical retrospective and a current insight into the persistent structural discrimination that women still face in the professional field of architecture. Four separate chapters are devoted to the extraordinary personalities of Emilie Winkelmann, Eileen Gray, Lina Bo Bardi, and Zaha Hadid. They and all the female architects presented here are important role models who will encourage you to take up this profession as a woman.
The HENN Academy is an interdisciplinary lecture series that invites outstanding personalities from different areas of knowledge to present the latest findings on selected topics. The contributions set new impulses for discussion, expand perspectives of everyday work and, last but not least, offer all guests and listeners a inspiring evening.
