Hybrid Realities: How virtual and physical spaces amalgamate

We would like to invite you to join the next HENN Akademie on Thursday, 15 June 2023 at 6 p.m. – at the HENN Office (Alexanderstraße 7, 10178 Berlin, 8th floor) or virtually in the Metaverse:
Hybrid Realities: How virtual and physical spaces amalgamate
with Professor Martina Löw (Technische Universität Berlin) and Frank Fitzgerald (Founder PAX, Metameet)
With a rapid digital transformation underway, how are the spaces we live and work in changing? How does the virtual extension of our physical world impact our social behavior? Martina Löw and Frank Fitzgerald share two different perspectives on how virtual and physical space will amalgamate in the future.
Professor of Sociology Martina Löw’s area of research is the sociology of space and its interdependency of material, social, and symbolic dimensions. She discusses how our perception of space has evolved from a coherent physical space into a network of interconnected spaces that include the digital reality.
As a founder in the Metaverse realm, Frank Fitzgerald creates 3D meeting platforms and digital replicas of spaces. Knowing the importance of informal interactions and chance encounters in the physical space, he focusses on creating virtual spaces that enable the same experience.
Following their keynotes, a conversation will address some of the questions that arise: What are the differences between the two spatial realities and where do they overlap? How will we experience and use hybrid spaces in the future? And, what are the implications for the future of architectural design?
