30.10.2018 – 

NAX (Netzwerk Architekturexport) is going to be in China (Beijing / Shanghai) during the NAX GOES CHINA tour and a event series of several days' duration. From October 30 – November 3, 2018, major topics are going to be discussed and debated in workshops and field trips under the headline CAUTIOUS URBAN RENEWAL.

Wei Sun (Partner at HENN Beijing) and Martin Henn (Managing Director / HENN Head of Design) will speak on October 30, 2018, at the initial event ARCHITECTURE, CULTURE AND CAUTIOUS CITY MAKING – IDEAS AND INSPIRATIONS BETWEEN GERMANY AND CHINA at German Embassy in Beijing.

HENN design selected for the Gasteig in Munich

24.10.2018 – 

Following the international competition and tender process, HENN‘s proposal has been selected for the renovation of the Gasteig in Munich. After 30 years of intensive use, the Gasteig cultural centre in Munich is to undergo renovation and remodelling. With around two million visitors annually, the Gasteig is the largest cultural centre in Europe. It was originally designed by the architecture partnership Raue, Rollenhagen, Grossmann and Lindemann, and was opened in 1984/85. The modernisation of the Gasteig provides Munich with a building that will be globally unique thanks to its wide range of cultural activities.

HENN + Posco A&C win international competition in Tongyeong, KR

20.09.2018 – 

HENN + Posco A&C win the international urban design competition for the dockyard revitalization in Tongyeong, South Korea. This region located on the East China Sea, which suffered an economic downturn in 2015, will be established as a new cultural and tourist hub for the country.  

Giovanni Betti – HENN Head of Performing at Rob | Arch Conference 2018 in Zurich, CH

Giovanni Betti, HENN Head of Performing, is going to participate at the Rob | Arch (Robotic Fabrication in Architecture, Art and Design) Conference 2018 in Zurich, CH (September 10 – 15, 2018) on Friday, September 14: Session “Design and Simulation” (from 10:15 – 12:00 am).

Giovanni will speak about our Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism installation “Communication Landscapes” and Make City Festival Berlin digital production HENN Pop-up Factory.

The conference takes place at Arch_Tec_Lab on ETH Zurich Hönggerberg campus.

Topping-out ceremony in Berlin's new city center

05.09.2018 – 

Yesterday the office building MY.B, part of the new Europacity, celebrated its topping-out ceremony. Over the next few years, a mixture of urban living and new workspaces will be created on the 61-hectare area adjacent to Berlin's main station. Located on one of the main traffic axes MY.B offers about 16,000 square meters of work space on six floors.

HENN unveils design for China’s first Private Elite University

Forty years after opening itself to the world in 1978, China has established a new educational milestone symbolized by the founding of Westlake University in Hangzhou. China’s first private research university is aiming to establish itself as a cutting-edge institution rivaling other well-known, world-class universities.

Merck Innovation Center amongst 6 nominees

17.08.2018 – 

The Merck Innovation Center has been awarded by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) with a nomination for “a creative design regarding a special recognition of ecological sustainability aspects creating a user-friendly and innovative working environment”. The jury will announce a top 3 in September and elect a winner in December 2018.

Since a couple of years the National German Sustainability Award became an important indicator for sustainable architecture projects in Germany.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Continental Campus

03.08.2018 – 

Last Tuesday Continental starts construction on its new headquarters in Hanover. The company headquarters consolidates all the facilities formerly spread across the city in one location. The building complex will consist of a total of eight buildings, which will be connected to each other by four bridges. The longest of these, with a span of 71 meters, will extend over Hans-Böckler-Allee.

The first development phase for the building complex is to be completed by the end of 2020 and to provide space for 1,250 employees.

 

Topping-out ceremony for training centre in Kaufbeuren

10.07.2018 – 

The DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new training centre last week at the Kaufbeuren Air Base. The building is characterised by its two saddle roofs, which draw the inspiration for their form from the roof pitches of the surrounding constructions.

The DFS has already renovated two accommodation buildings formerly belonging to the Federal Armed Forces on the site. The new academy, which from 2019 onwards will train military air-traffic controllers, constitutes the centrepiece of the campus.
