Ground-Breaking Ceremony for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Technical University of Munich
Two days ago the ground was ceremonially broken for the largest building programme in the history of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is a new complex at the Garching Research Campus, replacing the department's old facilities in the centre of Munich. The focal point of the new development is a central public forum, around which the four faculty buildings are grouped. The forum consists of a glazed hall that joins all of the individual buildings with each other. In late 2019 / early 2020, an initial ten of the current 45 professorial chairs are planned to move into the new complex. Overall department operations are to be relocated to the Garching site after the completion of the auditorium complex in the second construction stage (estimated to be in 2025).
